New loads of GTD-222 turbine blades arrived today for recycling! These are relatively new type of alloy used as a replacement for FSX-414 developed by General Electric. It is a cast nickel-based alloy used in land-based gas turbine engines. It has excellent tensile strength, and the 22% chromium composition also improves corrosion resistance.

Nimonic 263® is an age-hardenable nickel-cobalt chromium-molybdenum alloy designed specifically to combine good, aged strength properties with excellent fabrication characteristics in the annealed condition. While its strength at elevated temperatures is not quite as high as Waspaloy® or Rene 41, it is far easier to form or weld than these alloys.

Incoloy 825 is a corrosion-resistant alloy designed to perform well in tough environments. Its high nickel content protects it from cracking caused by chloride ions, while its stable austenitic structure adds to its durability. Molybdenum and copper help it resist damage from reducing agents and acids. Chromium improves its resistance to oxidizing chemicals like nitric acid, nitrates, and oxidizing salts. The alloy is also stabilized with titanium, which prevents pitting and grain-boundary corrosion after fabrication—especially during welding at high temperatures (650°C to 760°C).
